Builth Wells riverside clean-up - Marine Clean Cymru

Dear friends,

Marine Clean Cymru river clean ups[2862].png

I would very much like to work with local volunteers in Builth to do a half-day ‘Marine Clean Cymru’ clean-up that will help to prevent litter getting into the river - and ultimately the sea.

I’m sure there are a number of residents and work teams in and around the town who would like to take part.  It would be especially good  to involve some people who have never done anything like this before, perhaps you may be able to help rally some interested volunteers and colleagues?  Accompanied children would be welcome to join us.

I could bring litter-picking kit, hi-vis and rubbish and recycling bags, would provide a safety briefing and liaise with Powys County Council about collection of bags at the end.

The activity would be fun and very social but will highlight the problem of plastic and other materials getting into the oceans and our own responsibility to reduce waste and littering.  There will also be a big emphasis on what we should recycle during the litter-pick and when we’re at home, at school or at work.

As you will see from the image, the activity should take place between 20 Sept and 20 October.  A Saturday morning or an afternoon 2.30-4.30 often works well.

With best wishes,
Rachel
